Built in 1804 the Mission Santa Inés was established even before creation of the town of Slovang that it is located in. Sometimes called Santa Ynez, the mission began under the leadership of Father Estévan Tapís. Although most of the church building was destroyed in the earthquake of 1812, the structure was renovated and expanded later on. Reflecting local culture and history, the mission makes for an interesting visit. Self-guided tours are available here all week between 9a and 4p.

La Purísima is a surviving mission located in Lompoc, which way founded way back in 1787. The mission complex has been restored in the past and preserved well till date. It is one of the most lavishly restored missions in California. La Purísima has an extensive history, and its original inhabitants were the Spanish and the Chumash. The facility is now a state park.

A historic train station in Goleta, California, the Goleta Depot is now the centerpiece of the South Coast Railroad Museum. The Vandenberg Air Force Base started out as Cooke Air Force Base or Camp Cooke in 1941. It was renamed for the Hoyt Vandenberg in 1958. Amongst the most important and momentous achievement of the base are launching of Discoverer I, the first polar satellite launched in 1959. The site is open to public and tours all year round.
