The Dade Battlefield Historic State Park is an old battlefield where Seminole Indian warriors fought soldiers under the command of Major Francis L. Dade on December 28, 1835. The total area of the park is 80 acres (32 hectares), out of which 40 acres (16 hectares) are covered by pine flatwoods and a live oak hammock. Visitors are allowed in the park and they have a wide range of choice of activities like picnicking, viewing exhibits at the visitors' center, and wildlife spotting. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 14, 1972.

General James A. Van Fleet Trail State Park, located west of the Orlando near the city of Clermont, features miles of long trails that officially start in Mabel and end in Polk City. The park’s trail is part of Florida’s Statewide System of Greenways and Trails. Traveling this trail is one of the best ways to get a glimpse at the natural setting and native wildlife of the area. One-third of the trail passes through the Green Swamp region, which is one of the state’s protected wildlife and wetland regions.
