    »German Allotment Museum (Das Deutsches Kleingärtnermuseum)

    The Deutsches Kleingärtnermuseum documents the development of the first allotment gardens in Germany. Often nicknamed "Schreber Gardens" after the Leipziger who came up with the idea, the gardens were initially created as a place for city children to play and grow vegetables. These gardens are still hugely popular today. The museum is situated in the former headquarters of the Schreber Association and has a traditional German restaurant and pub in the building. You can enter the central meadow and playground for free and go for a walk to see the different gardens.
