The Good Book
Court TheatreApril 05, 2015 2:30 PM
5535 South Ellis Avenue
Chicago, IL 60637
It's one of the best-selling books of all time, and yet its origins remain somewhat mysterious. In this world-premiere play commissioned by Chicago's Court Theatre, Denis O'Hare and Lisa Peterson weave themes of devotion and conflict into the story of the place where human faith and divine inspiration intersect: the Bible. Fifteen year-old Connor tries to reconcile his identity with his dream of becoming a priest, while modern-day Biblical scholar Miriam struggles with doubt. Their stories highlight an incredible exploration into how the Bible came to be. From ancient Mesopotamia to medieval Ireland to suburban America, "The Good Book" takes you on a powerful and exuberant journey through the most influential and enduring book in Western history.
