»Art Walk

April 18, 2015 5:00 PM

Organized by the Asheville Downtown Gallery Association, this event endorses people's increasing interest in the Arts and History. Participants are taken on an enriching tour of 24 galleries in the downtown area, where they discover and explore ancient works created by old, renowned artists. It is rather enjoyable because you are accompanied by fellow art-lovers, and payments from the tour go towards preserving these ancient treasures. The event takes place on the first Friday of the month from April-December.

»Asheville Symphony: Handel's Feast

April 18, 2015 8:00 PM

When the Asheville Symphony was founded in 1960, all the musicians performed without pay on a volunteer basis, and there was no conductor or manager to lead the symphony. Things have changed quite a bit since its formative years. The Asheville Symphony is now a respected and revered organization that has managed to prove its worth with each consecutive show it puts on; and though most people probably don't think of the Appalachian outpost of Asheville when symphony comes to mind, the quaint city has evolved with the times and helped foster one of the more impressive symphonic companies of the American South.
