»World Famous Rag Market

December 27, 2014 9:00 AM

This market is a great place to find bargains. Open 4 days a week, it boasts hundreds of stalls. Besides the clothes, you can buy carpets, rugs, and household items. There is a well-stocked haberdashery section as well. The market is always extremely busy on Saturday, in no small measure because of students who love the market for its cheap and trendy second-hand clothing.

»Jack and The Beanstalk

December 27, 2014 2:30 PM

The theatrical adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk brings the classic folktale to life. After Jack exchanges his family's cow for a handful of magic beans to his mother's dismay, he tosses them out of a kitchen window before he goes to bed and wakes up to find that an enormous beanstalk has grown out of the ground and into the clouds. He climbs the beanstalk and finds a wealthy giant and his kind wife. This classic children's tale is made new in its stage production, which adds music and song to the already beloved story.

»Jersey Boys

December 27, 2014 2:30 PM

Jersey Boys is a musical based on the lives of Frankie Valli and the members of The Four Seasons. The documentary-style musical follows the group's rise to fame in the early days of rock 'n' roll, with standards like "Walk Like a Man" and "Big Girls Don't Cry" filling out a smash-hit soundtrack. Shedding light on the struggle and glory of the young musical icons, the show travels back to 1960s America in big Broadway fashion, nailing the art of the period musical and breathing newlife into the story behind the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees.

»Glenn Miller Orchestra

December 27, 2014 2:30 PM

In the late 1930s and early 1940s Glenn Miller pretty much wrote the book on big band swing music. His iconic staples like "In the Mood" and "Moonlight Serenade" helped propel him to become one of the biggest musical sensations of his generation. Unfortunately, Miller met his demise while en route to entertain US troops in France during WWII, when his plane disappeared into the English Channel. The prolific musician's songs still live on, though, and the Glenn Miller Orchestra (sans the group's eponymous band leader) still carries on and does a dang good job of recreating the memorable big band tunes that were so popular during the glory days of yesteryear.
