    Bootown presents: Projectorphiles

About Bootown: Founded in the summer of 2007 by University of Houston graduates Emily Hynds and Julie Gomez, BooTown was from the start a collaborative effort. Other founding members included Greg Hundemer, Philip Hays and Cathy Davis. In the three years since, Greg and Julie have moved on to other cities, but the Town has grown into a edgy, indie theatre institution, producing a series of monthly storytimes, Benshi shows, several plays and more under the oversight of Artistic Directors Emily Hynds and Lindsay Burleson.

    Kosé (Houston, TX)

Kosé is a Houston based garage rock duo formed in 2013. José Pineda is on guitar and vocals while Kira Black is on drums. Drawing from inspirations such as Thee Oh Sees and The Coathangers this energetic pair seeks to bring their social passions to the forefront through their fast paced music. Always looking up, these two balance heavy topics with an optimistic view point. Preferring to set up on the floor whenever possible, they challenge their audience to engage in the world around them with their spine tingling lyrics and heart pumping tunes. José's guitar riffs are thoughtful yet wonderfully unpredictable. Kira's drumming is precise, powerful, and promises to keep your toes tapping long after she's left the stage. Kosé is a duo on the rise, be sure to catch them to experience the party for yourself.

    We Came As Romans

Because the Michigan based metalcore band We Came as Romans spouts positive messages in its music, many have commonly referred to the music the group makes as Christian. The band claims to be non-religious, though, and decries being labeled as such. One member of the group was quoted as saying, "Our music, as a whole, has a positive message to it, and there aren't a whole lot of bands with a positive message who aren't Christian bands." So, to review and set the record straight, We Came as Romans is not a Christian band but its lyrics are positive. If you're a fan of positive message post-hardcore music that is non-denominational, this band is for you.

By combining elements of Celtic folk with melodic death metal, the Switzerland-based folk metal band Eluveitie has succeeded in blending genres that exist on polar opposite sides of the music spectrum. The band was formed in 2002 and has a dedicated following in Switzerland. The group incorporates unusual instruments like the bagpipe, hurdy gurdy and Irish bouzouki into its music to give the band's songs a boost of originality.
