This little museum in Victorville is dedicated to the story of the U.S. Route 66, on of the earliest and most popular highways in the country. Three rooms within the museum display an intriguing collection of artifacts from neon signs and road signboards to motorcycles, vintage cars and more. Also on display is a collection of photographs documenting the impact of the highway on the towns it passed through. Check website for more.

Although not as pretty as the images they create, the planetarium projectors at the Planetarium Projector and Science Museum are no less fascinating. A private collection of Owen Phairis, the museum features 17 different types of projectors, making it the largest collection in the world. Each of them still functions, its use demonstrated by Phairis himself, during the course their shows. Mainly travelling museum, Planetarium Projector and Science Museum can be made available to most local planetariums. Check the website for more details.
