    »Gables Tavern and Grill

The Gables Tavern and Grill is a popular and friendly local pub with a quiz night on Tuesday, live jazz on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, live rugby on the big screen on Friday, gaming machines and a TAB for sports betting. The menu in the restaurant has good variety for a pub. Of course, you can get a steak or a burger, but they also do things like lamb shanks braised in red wine and garlic and chicken curry. Main meals include fries and a salad.

    »Kamo Restaurant & Bar

Kamo is located along the late-evening and night-action strip of "K'Road". The decor is dark with colourful Pacific Island artefacts. The clientele gets younger as the night gets older, and the music grows louder. The clientele is mixed straight/gay later in the evenings, and more conservative for lunch and early-evening dinner. The menu is best described as Pacific Rim. An antipasto platter is NZD15; try the Coconut, creamy beef curry or Turkey broth and shittake mushroom soup with garlic parmesan bread. The bar is fully licensed and well stocked.

    »Ink Bar

Devoid of any 'outrageously showy' decor, the Ink Bar is focused on just one thing: being a vibrant party house. A favorite haunt for many local night revelers, the bar features energetic DJs who churn out an eclectic mix of house/ techno beats, much to the delight of those who want to dance the night away. The bar also schedules live music performances of local as well as touring bands on some occasions. Open until dawn, the Ink Bar is a perfect place to celebrate your weekend. Call or visit their website to know more.

    »Calibre

Calibre is perhaps Auckland's most select nightclub--but if you look good, you are guaranteed entry. Many famous, international faces have been spotted here and foreign DJs often spin grooves here on a Friday night. Some call the décor gloomy, but the music is hot and so is the well-dressed clientele. A trip down the stairs of St Kevin's Arcade is well worth it for a super-cool night out in Auckland. Drinks are a little more expensive here than in other bars and clubs. A cocktail shaker will cost you approximately NZD25 but it will be expertly prepared.
