Established in 2005, Midgårdsvallen in Märsta is a sports facility which primarily hosts football fixtures and atheletic events. Local league side Valsta Syrianska IK plays its home fixtures here. The facility is under the management of the Sigtuna Municipality and has a capacity to seat 2400.
Vilundavallen is the home ground of local football club AFC United. It regularly plays host to fixtures of the Superettan. The stadium has a capacity to seat 4000.
Angarnsjöängen is a natural forest stretch located away from the municipality of Vallentuna. Every spring, water level in this wetland rises as the snow starts melting. By autumn and late summers, the snow gradually disappears which creates a sustainable habitat for large numbers of wading birds. The nature reserve is home to 250 species of birds. Northern lapwing, western marsh harrier and common redshank are some of the commonly spotted bird species here.
Bro Hof Slott Golf Club opened in 2002 in the municipality of Upplands-Bro. This 36-hole course has been host to the Scandinavian Masters since 2010. The course, built to the designs of Robert Trent Jones Jr. spans across 7357 meters, making it one of the 'longest' golf courses in Europe.
Located in the small town of Taby, this farmhouse offers the ideal picnic venue away from the hustle of the city. The locals are quite friendly and co-operative, and most farmers allow tourists to explore their property. The town has picturesque old buildings and a beautiful view of the countryside. With Lake Ronninge around the corner, you have a variety of outdoor activities to choose from. You can take a walk around the farm, or play with the farm animals. The area also has exercise trails if you want to go jogging, and the lake is ideal for swimming.
This park is situated on the northern end of a peninsula, just across the sound from Uppsala. Though it is a peninsula, it is most conveniently reached from Uppsala by water, as the nearest road connection is some distance south, a good deal closer to Stockholm. Apart from activities like hiking and camping, the park has large dunes and open spaces that are used for activities like ATV'ing.
Opened in 1960, the Täby Racecourse was designed keeping in mind major American arenas. Today, with constant upgrades and proper maintenance, these tracks have no rival in all of Scandinavia. Thoroughbred races are held here all year round with the type of race varying according to conditions available. Some of the types of races which are held here include dirt racing under lights which takes place during the winter and spring months and the top flat and jump races in Scandinavia which happen during the summer and fall months.
This is one of the many nature preserves that gird the shores of Lake Mälaren. It contains extensive hiking trails as well as a few choice coves and inlets that are great for swimming, boating and fishing.
This sports center is always bustling with activity. It has squash and badminton courts and is also the only place where you could play racquetball. The gym is well-equipped with the latest machines. If you're not in a mood to exercise, head to the solarium for a nice tan or the restaurant for a snack. There's also a shop, where you can shop for sports gear, equipment and accessories.
This modern playground has disabled access. It is a place where all children can move around, handle the playing equipment and participate in the games. Among other things, you will find a raised sandbox, an adventure fortress for games and exercise, indications for the visually impaired and a stable swing that older kids can use, too. The park has animals for the children to meet, including rabbits, hens and sheep.
This little nature preserve is sandwiched between a wooded hillock and the banks of the Fyris. It is not large, but does contain some of the finest options for camping, hiking and picnicking.
IMAX, the largest film format in the world, can be experienced at Cosmonova in the Museum of Natural History, located on the northern outskirts of central Stockholm. At Cosmonova you can fly a jet plane, cross vast oceans, or travel through the universe, without leaving your seat. Cosmonova also serves as Sweden's largest planetarium. This is a major tourist attraction so you might want to book tickets ahead of time. Films are generally in Swedish with English headphones available.
