Lake Guntersville State Park is a comprehensive park situated on the banks of the Tennessee River. Overlooking the expansive Guntersville Lake, it spans over 6000 acres (2400 hectares) of land. Spread across four acres (1.61 hectares), Ave Maria Grotto is a miniature recreation of various world-famous Christian places of worship. Located on the premises of St. Bernard Abbey, the structures housed here were created by a Benedictine monk, Brother Joseph Zoettl. Attractions featured here include replications of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes in France, Rome's famous St. Peter's Basilica, Tower of Babel and more.
