»Olympic Village (Montreal)

The Olympic Village, located within the district Olympic Park in Montreal, was built for the 1976 Olympics. The twin-tower building was designed by Architect Roger Taillibert, who has designed a number of other structures in the park, including the Olympic Pool. Located on Sherbrooke Street, the Olympic Village was a temporary home to almost all athletes participating in the international championship and is now used as commercial complex.

»Maisonneuve Park

Located close to Olympic Park, this area was an 18-hole golf course until the mid-1970s. The course has since been cut back and much of it turned into a popular public green space. In the summer you can cycle, picnic under the shady trees, or watch a neighborhood baseball or soccer game; in the winter, there is skating on a lighted rink, tobogganing and cross-country skiing. Not heavily frequented by tourists, this is nonetheless a great spot to spend an afternoon.

»Montréal Biodôme

Montréal Biodôme is a science center and ecological zoo that is home to four distinct ecosystems. You will find a lush Tropical Forest, the temperate Laurentian Forest, the St. Lawrence Marine Ecozystem and the Polar worlds of the Arctic and Antarctic. Plenty of interpretative panels and staff are on hand to help you on your self-guided tour and there are audio guide systems to tell you more about the exhibits. The Environment Place amphitheater presents films, performances and lectures, all related to conservation and environmental protection. Admission fees listed are for the Biodôme only, so please check the website for other package prices.

A district of Montreal, created to lend a venue to the Summer Olympics of 1976, Olympic Park is located on the Pierre-De Coubertin Avenue and is roughly bound by Rue Sherbrooke and Rue Viau.
