»Premium Seating:los Angeles Angels V. Los Angeles Dodgers

April 02, 2015 7:05 PM

The Los Angeles Dodgers are a Major League Baseball team and a member of the National League West Division. The franchise was established in Brooklyn in 1883. The team had several names over the first 50 years, until finally adopting the name "Dodgers" in 1932. The Dodgers made baseball history in 1947 when owner Branch Rickey signed Jackie Robinson to a contract. Robinson became the first African-American baseball player in Major League Baseball. He won the Rookie of the Year award that same year. Before the 1958 season, the Dodgers moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. That same year, the Giants also moved from New York to California. Bitter rivals in New York, the two franchises remain hated opponents today. Some of the best players in Dodgers history include Sandy Koufax, Jackie Robinson, Don Drysdale and Duke Snider.

»Bonobo (Dj Set)

April 02, 2015 8:00 PM

By using a wide variety of samples in his songs as well as an eclectic blend of low end tones, British electronic music composer Simon Green (aka Bonobo) has managed to establish himself as one of the more prominent names in the downtempo music scene. After spending a good deal of time on the road throughout the 2000s, supporting his critically acclaimed albums Dial M for Monkey and Days to Come, Green started performing his music with the a full band rather than solo with the aid of a laptop and electronic switchboard. This ability to play electronic compositions with live instrumentals helped further Green's reputation and propel his standing as one of the more noteworthy names in the electronic scene.

»Carrie The Musical

April 02, 2015 7:30 PM

The blood will flow once again during "Carrie the Musical", a staged retelling of Stephen King's best-selling novel. Its original production in 1988 was a legendary Broadway flop. Later rebuilt from the ground up by the show's original authors for a hit off-Broadway production, it's now come to LA for a fresh, environmentally immersive show which places the audience at the center of this tale that's become a modern classic. You know the story: Outcast Carrie White is bullied by the popular kids and tormented by her overprotective mother, only to discover she has an inner power with the potential to change everything. Experience this powerful work in a surprisingly effective new way with this evocative musical production featuring a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic 1976 film), music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore ("Fame", "Terms of Endearment") and lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford ("Fame", "Footloose").

»Of Good Stock

April 02, 2015 8:00 PM

When legendary novelist Mick Stockton died he left his three daughters with a house on the beautiful Cape Cod peninsula and control over the legacy of the books that made him famous. He also left them with lightning-fast senses of humor, dazzling intelligence and a whole slew of issues. "Of Good Stock" turns its attention on a weekend that finds the sisters dishing out some long-buried confessions, engaging in dramatic confrontations and drinking plenty of good scotch -- as the men in their lives struggle to be a part of this elusive family's legacy. This South Coast Repertory production at Segerstrom Stage marks the world premiere of this engaging new work from playwright Melissa Ross, whose work has been hailed as "zesty, muscular and quick-witted" by "Time Out New York".
