This building is named after William Reuben Thomas who was the Gainesville mayor and businessman responsible for bringing the University of Florida to Gainesville. It was built in the year 1905 and was designed by illiam Augustus Edwards in the Collegiate Gothic style of architecture. It was added to the National Registrar of Historic Places on October 1, 1974.
