»David Allan Coe With Von Kiss and Willie Heath Neal

March 05, 2015 8:00 PM

David Allan Coe is a country singer who helped create the outlaw country scene in the United States in the 70s and 80s. His rough style and sometimes controversial lyrics have won him large numbers of fans and detractors alike. He's penned a few well-known hits, such as "Take This Job and Shove It," (recorded by Johny Paycheck) and his more than 20 albums released since 1969 have occasionally hit the rock and country charts. Due to lyrics that many listeners have deemed to be overly crude, racist or sexist, Coe's music appeals a bit less to the mainstream than some of his contemporaries such as, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Coe was featured in "Heartworn Highways," a film that helped define the outlaw country moment.

»Homers

March 05, 2015 8:00 PM

"Homers" is the story of Leigh Elder, a female sportswriter working for a major Atlanta newspaper. She's what they call a "homer" in the sports world. In other words, she's all about the home team. The Braves, the Falcons, the Hawks -- she loves 'em all. But when her dream job comes calling and promises her everything she wants in L.A., she's dying to go. The only problem is, her biggest fan -- her dad -- can't go with her ... and can't make it without her. Playwright Jacob York's first effort slides into home at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.
