The expansive dining room is a cheery space featuring light hues, helped by ample natural light during the day. There's also a little outdoor section. The lounge offers a refreshing change of character, with cool hues and a funky carousel-themed wallpaper. Chef Mike Nirenberg helms the kitchen, offering creative versions of Southern favorites.     Eleven 79 is off the beaten path but well worth the search. Once inside you will find authentic Italian dishes and a wonderful wine selection. The bar is always crowded with those waiting for a much sought after table. Reservations are a must. This place is crowded but if you have the La Bocca della Verità it will tell you it's worth the wait!

    »The Bayou Bar

    As you enter the Pontchartrain Hotel, this upscale lounge can be found right off the main lobby. A welcome addition in 1947, it remains a favorite stop for professionals as well as guests. Even if you are not a guest of the Pontchartrain, you might enjoy the cocktail hour. While you enjoy your drink, with complimentary hor d'oevres, notice the artwork that adorns the walls. These murals on canvas by local New Orleans artist, Charles Reinike, are considered priceless. For your entertainment, a piano bar plays from 9pm to 1am Thursdays through Sundays. It is open from Monday to Thursday, 4 pm onwards and from Friday to Sunday , 11 am onwards.

    »Ugly Dog Saloon and Bar-B-Que

    This Warehouse District saloon is just one large room with about 20 tables for dining, two pool tables and several televisions above the bar. There is an intricately painted mural of a bayou ho-down covering the interior walls. Happy hour and lunch are always packed with the 25 to 50 year-old business crowd, who work in the near-by Central Business District. The evenings typically are slow. This bar makes some of the best and most affordable barbecue in New Orleans. Menu items include slow-smoked beef brisket, pulled pork, and pork ribs. The chili beans topped with onions, cheddar cheese, and sour cream are delicious.
