»Congregation Ahavas Sholom

Built in 1923, Ahavas Sholom is the oldest synagogue still in operation in the state. The beautiful synagogue building was constructed in the Classical Revival style, and features fine architectural details. The interiors are no less beautiful, notably the 19th-century Ark that was transported from a synagogue in New York. The synagogue also houses the Jewish Museum of New Jersey, that introduces visitors to the history of the place and hosts numerous exhibitions.

»Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart

Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart was constructed over the course of a century, specifically erected to feature views of the mountains to the west and downtown Manhattan to the east. First proposed in 1859, the cathedral's cornerstone was finally set forty years later. It wasn't until 1954 that the church was completed and consecrated as a "monument of faith." Pope John Paul II visited this gargantuan French-gothic cathedral in 1995, performing an evening prayer that earned the cathedral the rank of basilica. The Cathedral Basilica regularly holds concerts that are open to the public, played on the largest pipe organ ever created by the Schantz Organ Company.

»St. Lucy's Church

Built in 1925, St. Lucy's Church was established to serve the city's Italian diaspora. The brick and stone building was constructed in the Romanesque style of architecture, but the real treasures can be found in the church interiors. This 165-foot (50-meter) tall structure of the North Reformed Church is an architectural marvel in itself.
