Museo Casa Juarez or Museo de la Lealtad Republicana is the former residence of Benito Juarez. During 1864, when he was the President of Mexico, Juarez stayed in this abode. This well-preserved house was converted into a museum in 1972. The museum houses a collection of memorabilia, documents and other objects that showcase the personal as well as work life of the President. There is also a replica of the horse-drawn carriage owned by Juarez. Guided tours of the museum are available.
Located in Chihuahua, Hidalgo's Dungeon is a 19th century prison where Mexican revolutionary, Padre Miguel Hidalgo was imprisoned and later executed. It is open to visitors 7 days a week. Pay a visit to experience the history behind one of Mexico's most influential freedom fighters.
Museo Casa Chihuahua is a popular tourist spot in the city. This 20th-century building was once known for serving as the Royal and Military Hospital, and it was then that Hidalgo, the Father of the Nation, was captivated in the basement jail. Today, the museums comprises of three areas: Museo de Site (Museum Site), Area de Exposiciones Temporales ( Temporary Exhibit Area) and Museo Patrimonial del Estado de Chihuahua (Chihuahua State Citizens Museum). While the Museo de Site (Museum Site) and Museo Patrimonial del Estado de Chihuahua (Chihuahua State Citizens Museum) showcase regional history, Area de Exposiciones Temporales ( Temporary Exhibit Area) hosts temporary exhibitions for the interest of visitors. The Historical Museum of the Mexican Revolution was the former residence of General Francisco Villa and his wife. The museum houses documents, photographs, weaponry and personal objects of General Franscisco that depict his contribution towards the Mexican Revolution. Besides, one will also find related artefacts on other leaders active during the revolution.
The Quinta Gameros is a revived mansion that now serves as a museum. Exhibits on display include intricate furnishings of the mansion.
